2008 Round the County Race

Icon participated in the 2008 Round the County Race which circumnavigates San Juan County.  The first leg of the race starts off Peavine Pass and this year headed south around Davidson Rock, Salmon Bank and then finishes at the entrance to Mosquito Pass.  The second leg starts off Roche Harbor, goes around Stuart, Patos & Sucia Islands and then finishes where the race originally started.

The first day was very windy and we blew out our inshore main.  During the Roche Harbor stop we removed the mainsail and hauled it over to a nearby hanger and repaired it.  Our engine was also actiing up very badly so on the second day we had to sail out of the marina to the start.  The winds were very light and we were first to the half-way mark - ended up finishing 3rd overall.  Not too bad for our first big outing...
