2009 Swiftsure Regatta

We were entered in the Lightship Classic race which departs the Victoria waterfront and heads to Swiftsure Bank and return for a total of 138nm.  Ian absolutely nailed the start (probably the best in AYC club history) and we had a total dog-fight out the strait as staying on Glory's tail the whole way out - some of the most exciting racing EVER!  We rounded the bank just slightly behind Neptunes Car in 2nd place and should have easily taken a podium position - however we fell apart at night by sailing into a fog bank and losing touch with our competition.  Had a nice duel with Strum on the way back and ended up beating them to the finish (although they corrected over us).  We ended up coming in 12 place!  Anyway, you live and learn - next year we won't make this mistake!
